REEDY RIVER STRING BAND (USA)
GREENVILLE, USA, bluegrass/newgrass,

Reedy River String Band plays foot-stompin' music in three-part harmony! Hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, the band brings a fresh take on Appalachian roots music infused with elements of rock n’ roll and jam band music.

Reedy River String Band has taken the Southeast of the United States by storm the past few years with their fresh take on Appalachian roots music. In 2023, Reedy River performed at several notable bluegrass festivals, including the Earl Scruggs Music Festival (EmmyLou Harris, Infamous Stringdusters, Greensky Bluegrass) and the Charleston Bluegrass Festival (Leftover Salmon, Molly Tuttle, Keller and the Keels). Reedy River's sound is modern bluegrass with foot stompin' elements of jam and rock n' roll inspired by the various touring and recording experiences of its members. In any given show, Multi-instrumentalist Sterling Waite interchanges mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and harmonica to bring a range of textures to the band's live performances. With Rush Morgan on guitar and Mark Dye on upright bass, all three of the members are songwriters and lead singers, lending a depth and variety of original material beyond the band’s relatively short time together. Since forming in 2021, Reedy River String Band released their debut self-titled album in 2022 and has since released two singles, "My Grass is Blue," and "Punkin Brown" in 2023. Their studio releases have been played on multiple radio stations in the Southeast of the United States including WNCW Spindale, NC, WLHR Lake Hartwell, GA, and The Creek Macon, GA.

Press Quotes:
"From the very start of Reedy River String Band’s self-titled EP, the Greenville, South Carolina Newgrass outfit presents a deeply sincere and at times humorous look at the world through the lens of three-part harmony, authenticity, and gospel sung from porch swings. The first two tracks, 'Up on Blocks' and 'Hoedown' set a rowdy pace propelled by rich, warm, bass, mandolin, and guitar that conjure images of barn dances and bluegrass festivals. The band delightfully shows their depth and dynamic as musicians and writers when speed and feel are taken back slightly on easy-going, yet introspective songs like guitarist Rush Morgan’s 'Airplane' and the yearning ballad lead by Sterling Waite, 'Coming Home'.The EP concludes with the contemplative 'Gospel Song' depicting a woebegone destroyed by his own vices, caught in the crossroads of the church and the barroom. It’s a superb harmony that’s lonesome while hinting at salvation when the Reedy River boys sing, 'In your head, there’s an old gospel song that your mama sang on the porch swing as you died with the radio on.' The power trio of Sterling Waite, Mark Dye, and Rush Morgan have truly set a mark for string band music." -Matt McMillian, Sound on Soul

Reedy River String Band “dives into acoustic bluegrass-style music, delighting their growing fan base with sturdy tunes that showcase more than a bit of humor. Take ‘Up On Blocks’ for instance, the leadoff track on their self-titled 2022 EP. It’s a catchy proclamation of love that climaxes with Waite singing ‘Can I put my car up on blocks in your yard?’ Burnished by the band’s tight, sparkling three-part harmonies, all six of the songs on their debut EP breeze by, full of pumping bass, quicksilver acoustic guitar and soaring fiddle.” -Vincent Harris, The Greenville Journal.
